Andreas Lechner is an architect and a professor of architecture. He is the founder of the architecture and research practice Buero fuer Baukunst and a tenured Associate Professor at the Institute for Design and Building Typology at the architecture department of Technische Universität Graz.

Andreas trained as an architect in Berlin, Paris, Tokyo (Shigeru Ban Architects) and Vienna and was a winner of Europan 10 in 2011. He designed and built several projects in and around Graz and participated in the second Istanbul Design Biennial 2014 and the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale 2016.

Andreas holds a Master and PhD degree with distinction from Graz Technical University. He was a postdoc researcher at the IUAV in Venice and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture in Copenhagen and held lectures and visiting professorships in Copenhagen, Genoa, Hamburg and Istanbul.

Andreas is co-editor of the bilingual peer-reviewed Graz Architecture Magazine (GAM), that is published anually by the architecture department of the TU Graz. He is a member of the Graz historic town commission and a licensed architect.
