Andreas Lechner is an Austrian architect and professor whose practice, research, and teaching operate at the intersection of architectural typology, ecological reasoning, and adaptive transformation. His recent scholarly work explores the concepts of affordance and continual building. He is the author of award-winning Thinking Design – Blueprint for an Architecture of Typology (Park Books, Zurich 2021) and lectures widely at international institutions. He serves as co-editor of GAM – Graz Architecture Magazine and of an upcoming special issue of The Journal of Architecture. His current research initiative, Counterintuitive Typologies, supported by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, investigates hybrid and transgressive building types.
